Im going into the navy, and want to invest in stocks and bonds and start my portfolio. How can i do this? im 22 and i am somewhat familiar with stocks and bonds, but not familiar enough of how to start investing. I know i don't want a discount broker, and i don't want to do the e-trade thing, since i am a newbie, so need someone that can walk me through things and answer questions i have, so i know without a doubt i need a personal broker. my monthly investment budget will be roughly $1250.00. hopefully i get an answer from someone who has done this same thing while serving in the military a the same time. If you can answer this, please give me a step-by-step if needed. thank you
I don't believe that at your level you need a broker. If each trade costs you $100 then that will be 10% of each trade (if you make 1 trade a month). In a typical year it will take you a year or more to recover that. Since no novices beat the market consistently, you are better off just buying an index, like the dow. You're going to perform at the market (by definition) which is frankly not too shabby.
Hi! Based on my experiences, you should not go too fast like that. Did you take any trial courses or free lessons about investment. This is very important for you to gain experiences. I think that budget is not too much, but you need to have good advices before investing your money into this kind of trading.
