Mean squared error not going down, weights blowing up, why? Sun, 22 Mar 2015 02:58:44 +0000 Kat007 Kat007
Could you please advise what could be wrong with my neural network? I have written one in C++ using backpropagation. I am testing it on XOR function with a 2x2x1 architecture. It only learns 3 out of 4 inputs correctly max. My weights constantly increase, I alter the momentum and learning constant, however the MSE per epoch almost always just increases and then weights blow up and MSE just stays same after that. Is it normal that it does that? Is it just a matter of finding that magic...

Options Trading Thu, 29 Aug 2013 14:32:47 +0000 nebem nebem
I am new here, so please do guide me if I break any forum rules as they would be unintentional.

I am recently starting research in financial computing and am quite interested in options trading. I come from a machine learning background and would really like some input from some people in the finance and options trading industry.

Is there any scope in using AI for options trading? I do see a lot for stock markets but not much on options, so was wondering if there was a reason behind...

Question about real-time databases Fri, 13 Jan 2012 01:25:58 +0000 Beatlemaniac Beatlemaniac I am writing software that will use such a database, but don't know what type of database that would be. Obviously, it is important, but it wouldn't make sense for to purchase until the software is complete.
MySQL? Oracle? SQLite? Anyone know?]]>

How are you?

I will start to create an application that forecast the Stock Prices using a based production rules.
I think that i will use the fuzzy logic and neural network (using Java and Oracle database).

anyone can help me how to start or what is the best steps to follow?

example of an algorithm Sun, 06 Feb 2011 22:16:17 +0000 horsie horsie

I am currently working on coding a stock exchange client+server system for a master degree project (I am a student of computer science).

I am looking for at least one example of an algorithm to implement an automatic trading robot when the clients+server system was ready to work. I have no clue where to find a clearly written algorithm. Any indication would be more than helpful.

XOR with Neural Network (Backpropagation) Sat, 18 Sep 2010 21:09:20 +0000 Kat007 Kat007
Does anybody know how many epochs should it take for the XOR problem to be solved by using Neural Network built with backpropagation and using hyperbolic tangent as the activation function please?

I am using a 2x2x1 architecture.

Currently my network solves it in 800 epochs to 0.2% error.

Is this normal?
What is the smallest number of epochs you know of that a network can solve it for?]]>

i'm looking to create a program to have a go at predicting the prices of stocks and was wondering whether anyone knew of a place where i could download market data for free or at least very cheap.

or if not, anyway that i could request the program to fetch market data from any website.]]>
